MASSOB to celebrate Biafra day

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Biafra Independent Movement have concluded plans to celebrate Biafra Day on Tuesday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The Leader of the group, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, in a statement on Saturday signed by Owerri Zonal Elders’ Council Member, Chief Okechukwu Nwaogu, said the event was in line with the declaration of old Biafra on May 30, 1967 by the Biafra warlord, the late Dim Chuwkuemeka Ojukwu.
The statement read, “The revolutionary fire lighted by Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu on May, 30, 1967 is still on by the taking over of the Biafra struggle by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike on September 13, 1999. Since the end of the civil war in 1970, no Igbo man ever mentioned the name Biafra, until September 13, 1999 when Uwazuruike inaugurated MASSOB. To add more fuel to the revolutionary fire, Uwazuruike on May 22, 2000, re-declared the new Biafra which is the basis of this event holding on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.’’
